Todd Kirks DVM

Dr. Todd Kirks was born and raised in southern Virginia where he was always finding connections with stray cats and dogs that found their way to his grandparents’ farm. His journey into veterinary medicine started at age 16 when he was able to drive himself to his first job as a kennel assistant in his hometown veterinary clinic. From this point on, he devoted his career path towards becoming a veterinarian by working as a veterinary assistant in various clinics in his home region.

After graduating in 2016 with a high school diploma as well as an associates degree, he continued his pre-veterinary studies at the University of Virginia where he earned a B.S.Ed. in communication sciences and disorders and a B.A. in french language in 2020. He went on to complete his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary medicine in 2024. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Associate as well as the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kirks is particularly interested in dentistry and oro-facial surgery along with preventative medicine, dermatology, compassionate end-of-life care, and forming meaningful connections with the owners of his patients. He also is looking forward to learning more about veterinary rehabilitation through exploring the rehabilitative services offered at Steele Creek Animal Hospital.

In his spare time, Dr. Kirks can be found working on various knitting projects, staying active at the gym, exploring his new home of Charlotte, and spending time with his partner (who is also a DVM) and their two miniature dachshunds, Duncan and Otis. He is very excited to meet and serve the animals and people of the Charlotte community during his time with the team at Steele Creek Animal Hospital.
