Saying Goodbye

Is it Time?

Is it Time?

To determine your pet’s quality of life, we need to assess several things:

  • Are they still eating and drinking, or do they show no interest?
  • Are they able to stand and walk comfortably?
  • Is your pet experiencing incontinence regularly, and do they have less control of their bowels?
  • Is your pet living without pain, or do they seem to be in pain all the time?
  • Do they show no interest in interacting with your family and other pets?
  • Are they unable to put on weight?

Looking at these and other factors is important for understanding your pet’s quality of life and whether there is any hope of improving their condition.

Who Decides?

Who Decides?

The decision of whether to go forward with euthanasia for your pet rests on you, but our team is here to support you in your decision and help you consider all your options. If your pet’s prognosis is hopeful, we can pursue different treatments to alleviate discomfort and improve their quality of life. We understand that simply considering euthanasia can invoke feelings of guilt, but you are not alone; and it’s important to remember that for pets with a poor prognosis and a decreased quality of life, euthanasia is a peaceful, compassionate option.

Communal cremation is another option. Everyone grieves and chooses to remember their pets differently. We are here to support you through this difficult process and are always available to answer your questions about cat and dog euthanasia. You can contact us at (704) 588-4400.
