Dr. Amy Schuver grew up in South Charlotte with a family who always had pets to add to the fun mix of four kids. A lifelong horse lover, she knew she wanted to help animals and do anything where she got to spend time all day with her favorite creatures, great and small. She has been practicing small animal medicine in Charlotte since 2013 and joined Steele Creek Animal Hospital in the spring of 2019.

Dr. Schuver graduated with an Animal Science degree with a genetics and nutrition concentration in 2006 from North Carolina State University, and worked as a veterinary assistant for a mobile equine sports medicine practice and at the teaching hospital in Raleigh. She went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 2012. Dr. Schuver is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association. She attained her Certification's in Veterinary Acupuncture (2016) and Canine Rehabilitation (2022) from Chi University. Dr.Schuver attended the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute for Canine Rehabilitation in 2020-2021.

In looking for ways to help pets live longer and happier lives, Dr. Schuver came to love complementary medicine like acupuncture and Chinese herbs in addition to physical rehabilitation while continuing to love all aspects of general practice. She particularly loves preventative care, pain management, dentistry, low stress handling, client communication, and supporting her veterinary team's learning and wellbeing.

In her free time, Dr. Schuver spends time with her rescue dogs (Cosmo, Penny, and Colonel Sanders) and two former trash can cats (Percy and Minerva), hiking, spending time outside, traveling, practicing yoga and going to concerts.
